Top Fitness Trends: 2014 in Review
Top Fitness Trends in 2014 Review
This time every year, it is predictable that lots of experts will weigh in with the top fitness trends for the coming year. More than just guesswork, fitness experts and surveys help identify where we are heading in our quest to get fit and healthy. Before we look forward at the top fitness trends of 2015, let’s take a look back at some of the top fitness trends of 2014 predictions.
Top fitness trends in 2014 included renewed use of traditional simple functional fitness weights in growing workout trends with CrossFit® and High Intensity Interval Training as prime examples. Standard free weights like dumbbells and medicine balls were seen as gaining in popularity as fitness got back to movement fundamentals. Innovations on traditional solid free weights, including Hyperwear SandBell and SteelBell dynamic and safe free weights, build on these top fitness workout trends.
Experts also saw a renewed popularity of aerobic group exercise with the addition of hand weights to include a strength training benefit. Concern was voiced over the use of ankle weights, wrist weights, and handweights with aerobic classes, while the trend towards use of a weighted vest was seen as a better option. Weight vests distribute their load on front and back of the body’s core making them superior by adding to your body weight workout.
We look forward to 2015 with the top trend cited as being wearables. The Apple Watch is the most anticipated new fitness product. Will it lead as top fitness wearable? It will be fascinating to watch over the course of the year.
One thing is for certain though: as we say at Hyperwear “You can’t Measure what you Don’t Do”. So get out there and workout. Just don’t meet your goal: CRUSH IT!
